Jacaranda trees in full purple bloom with spreading branches against an overcast sky
Jacarandas lining a Sydney street. Heritage streetscape trees like these share tight space with footpaths, kerbs and buildings, and their root zones are often under pressure.

Beaches Engineering provides tree health assessments that combine botanical, soil science and ecological engineering methods to identify the underlying causes of declining tree health.

Sydney is a global city that keeps significant trees and built form living side by side. We help property owners, strata and councils protect that balance, one tree at a time.

We work across Sydney's heritage streetscape trees, including jacarandas, oaks, plane trees and figs, habitat trees that support local wildlife, and local natives.

Signs worth a look

Thinning canopy, dieback at the tips, yellowing or small leaves, bark damage, soil compaction, poor drainage or root-zone disturbance after building work.

How an assessment works

  1. Tell us about the tree (photos, suburb, what you have noticed).
  2. We confirm scope and fee in writing.
  3. Site visit and sampling.
  4. You receive written findings and, where needed, a recovery plan.

What you receive

  • Findings note
  • Soil and root-zone results where tested
  • Recovery plan contents (causes identified, recommended works to soil, water and root zone, monitoring schedule)

Disease is confirmed only by laboratory testing, which we arrange where needed. Questions about hollow-bearing habitat trees or threatened species are referred to the appropriate specialists and Council.

What this is not

Botanical and soil science assessments are distinct from formal arboricultural risk assessments. We do not provide tree removal, risk or Council tree permit opinions. Where these are required, we work with appropriately qualified consulting arborists.

Questions

Is this an arborist report?
Botanical and soil science assessments are distinct from formal arboricultural risk assessments. Where these are required, we work with appropriately qualified consulting arborists.
Do you remove trees?
No. Our approach is conservation-first, and where removal, risk or permit opinions are needed we work with qualified consulting arborists.
How do fees work?
We reply with a written fee proposal based on the number of trees and the scope before any visit. Nothing is charged until you accept it.

Talk to us

Our approach is conservation-first. We look for ways to improve the environmental conditions behind a tree's decline, rather than treating removal as the default.
